In 2021, Ronnie Fowlkes and his daughter-in-law, Kelly Fowlkes, took over Austin Rebuilders, carrying on a family legacy that spans generations. They purchased the business from Kelly’s father, Rick Spears, who was ready to retire, marking a new chapter for the company while preserving its deep-rooted history.
The story of Austin Rebuilders dates back to 1982, when Robert Pryor, Kelly’s grandfather, founded the business. Initially focused on repairing automotive air conditioning systems, he quickly saw an opportunity in rebuilding a/c hoses and compressors. Over time, the business shifted away from general repairs and specialized in these components, providing wholesale parts to local auto shops and direct sales to the public.
When Ronnie and Kelly stepped in as owners, their mission was clear: honor the legacy while expanding services. Today, Austin Rebuilders isn’t just about automotive air conditioning anymore. They’ve added hydraulic, transmission, and oil line repairs, with plans to soon offer brake line repairs.
